New Girl Season 4 Episode 15 Review: The Crawl

$

On New Girl Season 4 Episode 15 we got to experience Nick's Manson-like charisma and see how many people are willing to join a stranger on a pub crawl on Valentine's Day.

It comes as no surprise this episode would be mainly about Nick and his recent breakup with Kai, but what frustrated me the most was the lack of back story on why Ryan was needing to get a new job.

So lets dive right in and discuss tonight's episode.

It wasn't at all surprising Jess would come home from a vacation with Ryan and have a faux English accent – way to channel Madonna, Jess.

Nick and Schmidt having a love for the comic strip Cathy makes me love them even more – at this point, these two can do no wrong in my eyes. It's clear Nick is taking the breakup with Kai extremely hard, but coming up with a pub crawl was the perfect solution; though I wouldn't trust him to actually map out the event.

Can Winston please be my designated buddy? The amount of provisions he had in his backpack was perfect for a night out on the town. Only Winston would have books, a woman's condom, nuts and even beer at the ready – you can't deny he comes prepared for anything.

Apparently Ryan needs to find a new job – way to floss over the storyline. On New Girl Season 4 Episode 13 they found a loophole so Ryan wouldn't have to quit his job; so why the urgency to a find a new job for him? It makes no sense. Yeah, I know Coach said the teachers were over Ryan and Jess being together, but, seriously, who cares what they think? I just found myself extremely confused when they were talking about him trying to find a new teaching job.

When Ryan asked Jess to move in with him, I did not get her hesitation – she can go on vacation with him and tell him she loves him, but she has to actually think abut moving in with him by pretending not to hear what he said. Thankfully she came to her senses, but we all know it was too late. It is clear they are on the road to breaking up, but at least they aren't ruining the character of Ryan just yet.

I am still on the fence about Fawn and Schmidt – heck I didn't even realize they were still seeing each other. She seems like the female version of Schmidt, but a little more full of herself and I am just not sure if they have lasting power; though I do enjoy the character of Fawn by herself.

Speaking of Schmidt and his women – the moment between him and Cece in the bathroom actually made me miss them as a couple. Schmidt, even with all his faults, always seems to be there for Cece when she needs someone. It's clear they still care about each other, but I can't blame Schmidt for trying to start a new relationship with Fawn because Cece wants to be hard-headed and not admit she still has feelings for Schmidt.

Thank you Winston for slapping some sense into Coach. Winston has slowly become my favorite character on New Girl and you have to appreciate the things he does for his friends.

Tonight's episode was mediocre at best – not a lot of laughs, but in the end Nick opened up about his feelings and his friends were – of course – there to bring him back up; though my favorite moment was Nick's pub crawl growing into a massive crowd. Only Nick Miller can achieve that.

What did you think of tonight's episode? When do you see Ryan and Jess officially breaking up?

New Girl Season 4 Episode 16 Review: Oregon

On New Girl Season 4 Episode 16, Jess and her friends traveled to her childhood home in Portland, Oregon, for her dad's wedding.

Unfortunately not everyone was able to make and it looks like it is the beginning of the end for the relationship between Ryan and Jess. The most important thing we learned was Ferguson, the cat, could possibly be alive, but he hasn't been seen in weeks.

Lets not waste anymore time and talk about tonight's episode.

I was shocked to hear Jess hadn't talked to Ryan for a week – it certainly doesn't bode well for a long distance relationship if the couple doesn't speak. It's odd after they made a big deal about staying strong on New Girl Season 4 Episode 15 and saying they would make things work, yet they can't get it together to at least talk for even five minutes. I get Ryan has started a new job, but it's still baffling to me.

It didn't surprise me to hear Coach does extensive research before he travels on the best places to visit. I fully admit I am guilty of it, so I can't judge him for it. Plus, it fits with Coach's personality of wanting everything in order and control of different situations.

While I love Nick and Schmidt, Winston is slowly becoming one of my favorite characters. This guy has some of the best one liners and you can't help but love his obsession with his cat. I'm also really liking the whole Cece/Winston friendship and how – even though he knows about Cece still having feelings for Schmidt – he is keeping it a secret; though I did love the reaction he had to Cece's crush.

I will say only one thing about that man that I've only said about Ryan Gosling...hot damn!

Winston

I can't be the only one cracking up over Cece's flirting, right? You'd think a woman who has shown in the past to have a lot of confidence would be able to approach a man and have a normal conversation with him. At least it provided us with some laughs; though I imagine it left many of us confused, as well.

I'm so happy Nick decided they would take Jess's tour since Ryan didn't show up. It reminded me of New Girl Season 1 Episode 1 when they got the friends together to get Jess's things from her ex boyfriend -- it really is about being their for a friend. While I enjoyed Jess's tour I did feel bad for her when she got to her house and her mom had a huge banner welcoming Ryan – at least we had Winston to provide us with some laughs during the depressing moment.

How could you not love Jess's mom? Seriously, she is hilarious and Jamie Lee Curtis plays her perfectly. I couldn't stop laughing after hearing Joan talk about taking a trip she'd never taken before. We need more Joan goodness on this show.

While I usually enjoy wedding episodes this one was a dud for me. We got some great comedy moments from Winston and Joan, but the rest of the episode fell flat. Even the final scene of Coach and Nick trying to find the missing rings was boring. It was clear this was the beginning of the end for Ryan and Jess and it wasn't surprising she would break up with Ryan over voicemail.

What did you think of tonight's episode? Are you feeling they are entering another slump?

New Girl Season 4 Episode 17 Review: Spiderhunt

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of spiders. They have never done anything to me, but I'd rather they stay far away.

Going into New Girl Season 4 Episode 17, where the friends have to work together to get rid of a spider, I had no problem with any of their methods.

Lets not waste anymore time and talk about how the friends worked together for the same common goal – getting rid of a spider.

As happy as I am hearing Nick can cook at least one thing, sauce, I have to wonder why Schmidt of all people would enlist Nick's help in cooking dinner.

Nothing against Nick, but no matter how good the sauce is I'm not sure I'd want to eat any of it – Nick isn't known as the cleanest person in the world and I would seriously question everything he put in the sauce – we all saw the mustard, bologna and mayonnaise.

Cece pining over Schmidt is apparently the only thing they are going to do with her for the rest of the season. Why can't the writers find something else for this character to do? The only great thing to come from Cece not being over Schmidt is the awesome friendship between her and Winston. Maybe they should do a spin-off of just Winston and Cece?

Why would Jess think Cece would ever have feelings for Nick? We all know Jess is a little on the naive side, but you can't tell me she would seriously think Cece would love Nick.

While the storyline fell flat I had to appreciate the hilarity of Jess talking with Nick about Cece and Nick thinking they are talking about a popcorn machine – so much innuendo in one conversation.

Does it surprise anyone Schmidt's Instagram feed would be filled with same shirtless photo with different filters?

Nick described people who have an aversion to spiders perfectly:

Schmidt: Ahh! A spider!
Nick: Jess, why did you do that? You know how he gets, he turns into a cartoon elephant of yesteryear who just saw a mouse.

It's not exactly shocking Schmidt would want to have an all out war to take town the spider especially after hearing his story about pies and waking up with spiders all over him. You can't blame the guy for being deathly afraid of them and wanting to rid of the world of spiders. The funniest scene was hands down the moment Schmidt saw the spider web and was convinced the spider left it to breed more spiders.

While tonight had some pretty funny moments it again fell flat. Schmidt's reaction to the spider was pretty spot on for people who are afraid of spiders and it offered some memorable moments – the spider being on Schmidt's face being one – but the rest of the episode was so stale.

We can only hope New Girl Season 4 Episode 18 will provide us with more laughs and a more structured storyline.

New Girl Season 4 Episode 18 Review: Walk of Shame

$

They could have easily titled this episode, "The Great Woodland Musical," and it would sum up the entire episode perfectly.

We not only got the return of Bear Claw, but we also got to see what Paul has been up to since getting engaged.

Unfortunately, on New Girl Season 4 Episode 18 the funniest moment came at the end, but we won't get into it just yet. Let's discuss.

The whole blowout conversation was extremely odd and out of left field. I've had them, and while they are great, they are certainly not life changing. You'd think Cece, being a former model, would have been used to them and not have been nearly as enamored as Jess. It was a cheap gag which was trying to be funny but ultimately fell flat. YAWN

Did it surprise anyone Bear Claw and Jess wouldn't sleep together, but would instead create a musical? I have to agree with Cece about the creation of the musical being way more shameful; though it made for a hilarious scene watching them work together and we would have been perfectly OK with the entire episode revolving around the woodland musical.

It was actually rather refreshing seeing Paul, who is hands down one of my favorite ex's of Jess. Unfortunately, his life has not turned out the way Jess thought it would and it actually made me a little angry.

Why would Paul, who was a successful teacher, now be making a living as a clown? It doesn't make one bit of sense, because Paul has always been a rather level headed guy, and while he may be the male version of Jess, he always had a little more sense.

Unfortunately, the guys had an equally boring storyline revolving around May and Coach being embarrassed by them. I'll be honest and say I was not a big fan of May's at the beginning because she seemed so full of herself, but when she started playing the Monday Night Football theme for Coach I couldn't help but fall in love with her. Coach was smart to listen to the advice from his friends and be honest with May.

Tonight was another dismal effort at trying to be funny. It seems as though the writers are running on steam and are just throwing things together to see what happens. It's not a good thing having the only funny part of the episode be at the end when Jess, Paul and Bear Claw are performing the musical. We won't even get into Cece now being the one pining over Schmidt – can we please resolve this storyline?

What did you think of "Walk of Shame"? Do you feel like the show is starting to slip? Or are you happy with the way things are going?

17 TV Characters Who Love To Drink: Bring On the Bourbon!

Some of our favorite TV characters, like Olivia Popeare sophisticated, responsible drinkers. Others? Hahaha. Not so much.

Plus, red wine is basically cardio, so she's just eliminating the need for a swim sesh, right?

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we thought we'd take a look at some of the TV characters who are seldom seen without an adult beverage in their hands.

Take a look at 17 TV characters who love to drink!

From bourbon to beer and every alcoholic beverage in between, the above 17 characters are steady drinkers. Yes, even the animated characters!

What would Homer Simpson be without a can (or 12) of Duff beer? Is Archer EVER sober?

Damon Salvatore and Alaric Saltzman have done so much drinking together on The Vampire Diaries that their bourbon swilling became a running gag. So what if it was noon on a Tuesday? You'd find them at the Grill knocking back tumblers of their favorite honey colored nectar.

Damon drank to temper his, well, temper. Alaric had a lot of sorrows to drown. Dude was seriously the most unlucky character ever.

And let's not forget our wine lovers!

The girls of Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce make every occasion a drinking occasion, much like the ladies of Sex and the City did once upon a time. Their love of a good glass of grape juice is part of their charm.

How thorough was our list? Who's missing? Sound off in the comments below to let us know!

New Girl Season 4 Episode 19 Review: The Right Thing

If everyone in the world danced and sang while getting out of the shower like Winston, the world would be a better place.

New Girl is finally back after what seemed like a rather long break. Thankfully New Girl Season 4 Episode 19 proved a break is exactly what the show needed. It looks as though New Girl has tweaked a couple of things and fixed some of the problems they have been having this season.

Let's not waste anymore time and discuss tonight's episode.

Schmidt's Mom's Visit - New Girl

Jess's version of a sext is exactly what I'd expect from her. Jess's personality has been flip-flopping around all season and tonight finally showed a glimpse of the person she used to be. Who else would think a sext message would involved your bra being on the outside of your shirt? It's delightful having the old Jess back.

Of course Jess would be able to guilt not only Cece, but Coach, into going to the funeral to pay their respects to Pete. It was equally awkward and hilarious, especially when everyone was together remembering Pete and talking about their memories.

Thankfully, this is a comedy and it's OK to laugh during these "serious" moments, because I couldn't help cracking up, especially when they started singing a song about hotdogs – which turned out to be a rather catchy tune.

Why did it take so long for Nick and Schmidt to think about investing in the bar? The bar is always busy, plus Nick knows the business. It may not have the best clientele in the world, but at least they know they will make a profit. Speaking of the bar, it's always enjoyable seeing Ben Falcone playing the owner and I find myself looking forward to seeing him and hearing the sarcastic things he has to say.

Schmidt's mom, Louise, is amazing and I want her to stay on the show forever. Kudos to the casting department for getting Nora Dunn to play Louise, because she did a brilliant job as the overbearing mother. Of course Schmidt's mom would refuse to give him his bar mitzvah money until he wrote out his thank you notes; though it's shocking his mother never forced him to sit down after his bar mitzvah given her pushy personality.

Schmidt enlisting Winston and Aly to help him track down the bar mitzvah guests was amusing, especially when they'd find out one of the guest was deceased. Schmidt should have known Louise was going to critique everything he wrote and wouldn't be happy with what he showed her – come on Schmidt, you know your mother and know she wants perfection.

Louise almost gave us the biggest secret of all – Schmidt's real name – and now I find myself wanting to know what his real name is. Damn you, New Girl!

In the end, Louise finally gave Schmidt his money and apparently thinks Cece is a Hispanic woman. Jess made the decision she would get Louise to become her best friend – can you imagine the antics which will transpire? Winston and Aly decided to just be friends instead of getting into a relationship, which is probably a smart idea.

It was a strong episode with a lot of laughs and some character development – the break has done them well and it shows.

Next week on New Girl Season 4 Episode 20, Jess decides to play in a charity golf tournament and Fawn Moscato returns. Meanwhile, Winston meets a woman who he finds attractive, but she is not a fan of police officers and Winston has to make the choice to lie about his job or tell the truth.

Who doesn't love to sext??

We all love to sext, and on New Girl Season 4 Episode 19 Jess takes up the practice this week when she slips her bra over her shirt and goes to town.

What the heck? Okay, maybe some of us aren't really up on what sexting means. Jess, we're looking at you, kid.

Hot dogs, Armor hot dogs...come on, sing it with me! Well, sing something about hot dogs, because then you'll fit in at the local funeral parlor, much like Jess, Cece and Coach who burst into song at a wake.

Nick and Schmidt are still in the bar business and it's going pretty well, and if you take the time to watch New Girl online, you might even discover Schmidt's real name, courtesy of his mom. Hey, it can't hurt to give it a look to see if we're right...

New Girl Season 4 Episode 20 Review: Par 5

If you are going to wear a short skirt without underwear, remember not to bend over.

On New Girl Season 4 Episode 20, Jess is determined to get new computers for her school and even goes as far as competing in a golf tournament with Fawn; though Jess fails to mention she doesn't know how to golf. It was another classic episode of New Girl and there was even a small mention of Winston's beloved cat, Ferguson.

Lets dive right in and discuss tonight's comical episode.

I know some people don't like Fawn, but she's hilarious. It's not entirely shocking to learn Fawn puts together the pros and cons of Schmidt's love making.

The whole back and fourth between Fawn and Cece was equally as entertaining and I could probably watch these two go at it for an entire episode – can you imagine the insults they could throw at each other?

Winston's mom needs to make an appearance because his childhood always sounds so colorful. I can't help but question how Winston has been able to make it this far in life without his mom being right by his side. Just a reminder, this is a man who's in charge of protecting and serving the city of Los Angeles – the city is doomed.

Winston's method of flirting is by far the most bizarre thing. Even though I love Winston's personality, I hate how insecure they make him. When he first came on the show he wasn't this insecure, but as the series progressed they not only made him kind of a moron, but they also took away his self worth. He may be an odd guy with a quirky sense of humor, but he's also a decent guy who deserves a good woman in his life.

Nick and Winston could easily create a wonderful play about their life. I always forget they grew up together and they have been through some rather interesting situations – they could easily structure an installment to revolve around the life of Winston and Nick.

Of course Schmidt would want Cece to rub bronzer all over his body. Has he forgotten Cece is his ex girlfriend and maybe it wouldn't be the smartest thing in the world to ask her? I'm not sure why Cece would think an emergency with Schmidt would constitute a real emergency like it would to most normal people.

Speaking of Schmidt, was anyone surprised he accidentally bought bronzer with glitter in it? Cece trying to fix Schmidt's glitter disaster by adding white face powder to his face was brilliant; though they could have easily just scrubbed the bronzer off with a loofa and avoided the powder all together.

The way Jess approached golfing is essentially the same way I'd approach golfing. Fawn and Jess together was extremely amusing and Fawn giving advice on how to network with the ladies was entertaining to watch. Fawn may be completely unethical, but damn she's a lot of fun.

The ending was actually kind of cute with Winston stripping for Casey and being brutally honest about himself. Unfortunately there was a total lack of Coach and Nick which made the episode a little less fun; though my biggest complaint is mentioning Ferguson and not seeing him – I miss Winston's cat.

What did you think of "Par 5"? What do you think of Fawn and Schmidt? Do you miss Ferguson?

New Girl Season 4 Episode 21 Review: Panty Gate

Let me just wipe away these tears.

You can easily say New Girl Season 4 Episode 21 is essential based on the fact it sets up next week's season finale perfectly. They easily put all the major storylines in play and set up a nice goodbye for our resident hot-head, Coach, whom I'm going to miss, but who was unfortunately not utilized enough this season.

Let's talk about tonight's wonderfully hilarious episode of New Girl.

Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston bickering about Coach and May's fight was brilliant and reminded all of us just how great this group is together. Winston being more concerned with his waffle getting hard was definitely the highlight of their heated discussion.

Cece, please don't turn into one of those women who gets advice from books proclaiming you need to go out and find yourself. It's unfortunate they have made Cece insecure and way more vulnerable this season; though the Schmidt and Cece moments were shockingly really sweet and I found myself wanting them back together.

You have to admit Jess was pretty on point when it came to the various couples on the show. Jess knows from being around Fawn and Schmidt that they aren't going to last because they don't love each other. Can we please have more of this rational Jess who has the quirky personality, but still maintains a sense of reality?

Coach's meltdown in his classroom while Jess was observing his class was probably the funniest thing this season.

The only thing I found odd about this whole meltdown was his strong feelings for May, considering the show never really explored their relationship and didn't develop it, but apparently he has fallen hard for her and the audience is supposed to understand his feelings.

Schmidt taking the fall for Fawn's indecent exposure didn't come as a huge surprise considering the crazy relationship they have; though I could easily watch an entire episode dedicated to Schmidt's improv group from when he was a chubby little kid.

Speaking of Schmidt, even though he can be a complete douche at times, you can't deny his breakup with Fawn was rather sweet. He knows they aren't good together and they don't love each other, but he still took the time to make the breakup be all his fault for the press to see – Schmidt really has proven he can be a decent guy.

In the end, Coach decided to move to New York with May and made the most awkward declaration of love I have ever seen on TV; though the best scene of the night happened at the very end of the episode when the friends with bickering and eating pizza, reminding us how special their friendship is.

Next week on New Girl Season 4 Episode 22, Coach wants to make a clean break and not get sentimental when moving to New York. Schmidt makes a decision about his future. Nick and Jess reminisce about their relationship and make a decision about where they go from here and someone makes a triumphant return. A word of warning, get your tissues ready.

On New Girl Season 4 Episode 21, preparations are underway to say goodbye to a beloved friend character.

Yes, that's right. Coach will be moving to New York City and first up is his break up with May. Say what? You didn't know he was all that into May? Well, we didn't either, but his blubbering breakdown in class was absolutely hilarious nonetheless.

It just so happened that Jess was observing Coach's class during the meltdown and this led to her sharing her insights on many of the shows couples. Who will last and who won't? Well, just ask Jess! She's rational.

What a great way to end the season!

You can definitely say New Girl Season 4 had a rocky start, no thanks to the breakup of Nick and Jess, but once the show came back from their hiatus, they came back strong.

It comes as no surprise New Girl Season 4 Episode 22, was probably one of the best season finales the show has done. All of the characters were accounted for, storylines were tied up nicely and there was a welcomed return of a beloved character.

Let's discuss tonight's season finale of New Girl.

Jess trying to put together a goodbye party for Coach was downright hilarious and you have to appreciate Winston for taking part in it while decked out in Statue of Liberty dress.

Jess: There he is! Mr. New York. Mr. Broadway. Happy last day, I made you this.
Coach: It's a bunch of pictures of you.
Jess: Well, I had to take the necessary precautions because the last time you left, you forgot who I was. You called me Jebecka.

The flashback to Winston and Coach watching an infomercial for a crepe pan while drunk was a lovely reminder of how wonderful their friendship is and it's a shame the show never explored the friendship more of it. I also admit to ordering interesting things while intoxicated.

Can we please have an episode dedicated to Winston leaving voicemails on phones?

Speaking of Winston, he was on fire tonight. It seems like people forget about Winston and his great comedic timing – plus you can't hate a character who takes weekly pictures with his cat. By the way, Ferguson's return was phenomenal – I didn't realize how much I missed him.

If I were off my rocker, would I take a weekly selfie with my cat?

Winston

Who else couldn't help cracking up over Coach and Winston crying together? I'm really going to miss Coach and I've said it before and I'll say it again, they never utilized him the way they should, so it came as no surprise the actor would be leaving the show.

Nick and Jess finally talked about their relationship and it almost seemed like they were giving the fans of the couple hope of a possible reconciliation. This whole season it seemed like the show was determined to keep these two apart, but they threw this curve ball. I hope they aren't trying to string fans of the couple along.

Tonight was a welcome reminder of how sweet Schmidt can be and how special his relationship with Cece is. I was nervous they weren't going to resolve the whole Schmidt/Cece saga until next season, but was pleasantly surprised by the writers giving us one of the sweetest moments New Girl has ever done.

Schmidt: Are you in love with me? Because I'm in love with you, deeply. I assume that you would never because I messed this up so many times. You've made it very clear you only want to be friends with me and I value that friendship so much. So it I'm ruining it by doing any of this, please stop me.
Cece: Schmidt. I'm in love with you.

When Cece finally admitted to Schmidt she loved him back, I couldn't help the tears from flowing. Every though I've been irritated with the whole back and forth relationship, tonight solidified how great these two are together and I'm happy they are officially engaged. Save the date everyone!

Schmidt: I know this might seem crazy and probably a little bit impulsive, but it's not, not for me. I've known since the minute that I've met you.
Cece: Oh god, you're going to say something stupid, aren't you?
Schmidt: Girl, will you marry me?
Cece: Yes. Yes, yes, yes!
Jess: We're getting married!

New Girl proved, in the end, all that matters is finishing off the season on a high note, which is exactly what they've done. I'm actually looking forward to New Girl Season 5 and how the wedding with come together for Cece and Schmidt.

What did you think of tonight's episode? Do you think Nick and Jess will get back together? Most importantly, how great was it seeing Ferguson again?
